"A forum focused on the state of education in New York City public schools one year after restructuring. The forum's purpose is to provide a better understanding of what can be done to make the transition into a more productive system for the city’s children.

The forum is introduced by Stan Altman, Dean of the School of Public Affairs. Dr. Altman is followed by keynote speaker Diane Ravitch, Professor of Education at New York University, who gives a brief overview of New York City school history and reviews the current reforms and answers a few questions.
A panel discussion follows with Lynne Weikart, Associate Professor at the School of Public Affairs serving as moderator. Panelists include: Robert Hughes, President of New Vision for Public Schools; and New York State Assemblyman Steven Sanders.
