Matthew Von Unwerth: Freud, Rilke & The Poetry of Psychoanalysis

The evening's featured speaker, Matthew Von Unwerth, Director of the Brill Library of the New York Psychoanalytic Institute and a candidate in psychoanalytic training, reads from his recent book "Freud's Requiem: Mourning, Memory, and The Invisible History of a Summer Walk" . Mr. Unwerth explores Freud's provocative ideas on the connections between creativity and mortality in this elegant literary musing conducted through a reading of Freud's argument about creativity with poet Rainer Maria Rilke.
The reading is followed by a conversation conducted by Jennifer Humphry.
