"Michael J. Sandel, the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government at Harvard University, where he has taught political philosophy since 1980, relates the big questions of political philosophy to difficult issues of the present day. His presentation and his new book, Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?, challenge the audience to think through the hard moral challenges confronted by citizens. Professor Sandel explores how the most hotly contested issues can be illuminated by reasoned moral argument.
The presentation is followed by a Q&A session and a book signing.
David Birdsell, Dean of the School of Public Affairs, offers opening remarks.
The event takes place on November 19, 2009, at Mason Hall, 17 Lexington Avenue."
