China's Smart Cities Initiative

Dr. Amy Chen of Ping An Smart City Research Institute discusses the Smart Cities changing China and the technologies behind them. Smart cities use information and communication technologies to increase operational efficiency, share information with the public and improve both the quality of government services and citizen welfare. China sees Smart Cities as the means to overcome the nearly universal challenges of population expansion, traffic congestion, environmental degradation and resource shortages.
